Software Testing Professional's Resume - No. of pages

Recently I was reviewing a few Software Testing Professional's resumes and that has triggered a question in my mind. To get more insights on the same, I have posted a poll on LinkedIn.

As per the Poll results (with 302 votes),

- 25% voters reckon a Resume should be of 1 Page only

- 65% voters reckon a Resume should be of 1 Page / max 2 pages

- 10% voters reckon that for a Resume; no limit to no. of pages

Here are my thoughts -
# The Resume is something that speaks on your behalf. So it has to be well organised and should highlight all the essential & specific details about your profile.

# The Resume can encompass
- Summary (try keeping it short)
- Work experiences (Company name, Designation, Tenure, & Responsibilities)
- Skills
- Educational credentials
- Certifications &/or Courses (if any)
- Tools, Technologies, etc.
- Volunteering experience (if any)
- Publications (if any)
- Online Portfolios (links to your Blog, Vlog, Code repos, Book, etc.)
- Achievements (if any)
- Important - Don't follow the templates, understand your context (as you know it better) and prepare accordingly

# In my opinion, the resume should be of 1 Page or max 2 pages which reveal your overall profile. Don't try to mention everything in a resume (e.g. Company overview, Project overview etc.). Be smart and keep the essential & specific information only and rest you can demystify while being interviewed.

# 1/2 Pages resume is something easier to look at and helps the reviewer (HR, Tech person) to shortlist your profile from 100's/1000's of profiles.

# In the context of Resume, छोटा है तो बेहतर है

Bonus Tip
-
- Make sure your resume is ATS friendly. 😇

Additional Tips (basic yet important) -
# While preparing a resume; avoid copying the contents from a friend's or someone else's resume. Don't forget, you are unique, your experience is unique and so your resume should be.

# When you upload or share your resume; ensure you share it in .pdf format.

# Keep the file name as simple as you can.
