Lessons to learn from Dahi Handi festival

This post is not just limited to Software Testers, but applicable to each individual who is working on a Project.

Many of you may know that Dahi Handi (aka Gopalkala) is one the popular festival in Maharashtra and some other parts of India, which is celebrated on the occasion of Gokulashtami or Krishna Janmashtami.

# Ever wondered, how this human pyramid is created?
# Any idea; what kind of practice is required for this?
# Do you think forming this human pyramid is an easy task?
# Any guesses; what drives the Govinda Pathak (people who participate in forming this human pyramid)?

In my opinion, Collaboration & Trust are the keys here.

Creating a human Pyramid needs significant collaboration, focus, & trust (with each other). Each layer in this Pyramid plays a vital role. Lowest layer contains the maximum number of people, middle layers contain a comparatively less number of people, and at the top there is an individual person. If any of the individual or layer fails to contribute then it's difficult to form this human pyramid and impossible to break an earthen pot (aka Matki or Handi) filled with Curd, Fruits and Water which is hung at a certain height.

Now linking it back to Software Projects, what we can learn from this Dahi Handi?

I can think of few points -
# Focus on your Task
# Practice your Craft
# Develop and keep the Trust with each individual working on a Project
# Collaborate often
# Never ever forget, irrespective of the layer (lower, middle or top) you are working in, from a Project or Organization perspective your contribution always plays a vital role.
