I reckon it’s always a good notion to have some resolutions. It helps us to achieve our professional and personal goals. As we are entering into the New Year; I believe this is the perfect time to set up some resolutions.
So.... Software
Testers; what’s your New Year resolution?
Software
Testing Events
You may plan to attend
(as Speaker or Participant) Software Testing events such as Conferences, Meetups,
& Webinars.
Software
Testing Competitions
If you are
passionate about Software Testing and want to challenge yourself, then you may
plan to participate in Software Testing competitions such as BugATAhon (a Crowd Testing competition
organized by Agile Testing Alliance), AutomATAhon
(an Automation Testing competition organized by Agile Testing Alliance), BlogATAhon (a blog writing completion organized
by Agile Testing Alliance), TestAutothon
(an Automation Testing competition organized by STeP-IN Forum). You may also
look for relevant competitions in your country or region.
Programming
Languages
You may plan to
learn (from basic to advanced level) programming languages such as Java, Python,
or any other popular programming language which is useful for Software Testers
in Automation Testing.
Tools
If you are a
Manual tester and want to start with Automation Testing then you can think of
Tools such as Selenium, Sahi Pro, or any other Automation Testing tool which is
currently in demand by the industry.
Certifications
If you reckon
that Certifications can add value to your knowledge, then you can plan for Software
Testing Certifications, Agile Certifications, or DevOps Certifications.
New
Technologies
As we all know
that everyday things are changing so fast and hence you may want to learn new technologies
such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Internet Bot (Web
Robot), Robotics Process Automation (RPA), Machine Learning (ML), Big Data, Virtual
Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Cloud Computing, Data Science etc. You
may also want to learn how Software Testing can contribute in these new technologies,
what are the required skills for Software Testers.
Software
Testing Blogs
If you are
passionate about Software Testing and love to share your knowledge &
information with the community, then you can start writing blogs on Software
Testing, Automation Testing, Software Testing Processes or Tools etc.
I have set up
some resolutions for myself in each of the areas mentioned above. What’s your New
Year resolution? Is there any area you would like to add to the above list or
want to add some points to any of the areas mentioned above? Please comment
below with your thoughts.
